I met little Maide while delivering food to her community. She is 12 years old and lives in a small room with her mom and siblings. No dad in the picture. She has been abused all of her life. Her story is one that is way too familiar amongst the children in my churches. Every time I hear such a story, it breaks my heart all over again.
She recently started coming to my church, walking with her neighbor to get there for service. She found out we were having music practice on a certain day and wanted to come. She had so much fun. Afterwards when I was cleaning the church she jumped right in and started helping. During this time, she began to tell me about her home life, weeping, not wanting to go home. I held her and cried with her.
Then we prayed. I asked the Lord to watch over her and protect her and that when she went home this day to let there be peace in her home, to not let any harm come to her.
A few hours later I got a text. Maide had gone to the neighbor’s house to borrow their phone. She could not wait to tell me that Jesus had answered our prayers!! When she went home that day, no one hit her, no one yelled at her, no one cursed her. She was absolutely beside herself with joy! Until recently, she had never even heard of Jesus and now He was doing something so great for her!! “This is amazing; I am gonna serve the Lord just like you Pastora! I wanna serve the Lord, too!” That’s the most beautiful words I could ever hear from anyone. It will change everything! And I know it’s going to change Maide’s life forever!
