Last time Susan was home she took some shoes back with her that I no longer wear because they were ‘uncomfortable’ for me. She gave them to one of the teenagers. The young lady was so excited, she literally jumped up and down, Praising the Lord, dancing in her ‘new’ shoes.
They were flip flops. Cheap Walmart flip flops. A blessing that I ‘rejected’, yet someone else was so very thankful for.
Another time I sent some fragile items back with Susan. I used an old stained worn out yard shirt that I no longer wore as part of the packing material to wrap the items in. When Susan opened the box at Church to give away the fragile items, one of the ladies saw the old yellow shirt and got so excited and asked if she could possibly have it. Susan explained that it was just being used as packing material because it was stained and worn out, but that, yes she could certainly have it. That precious Sister wore that yellow shirt so proudly to every single Church service for months! I wept every time I saw a picture of her in it, her hands raised in Praise to Jesus for His goodness.
I wonder how many more times I have ‘rejected’ the Lord’s Blessings. “Lord, help me to be more thankful and to see your Blessings more clearly. But mostly, please forgive me.”
