My One Desire (Mi Unico Deseo)

“I am ready to burn out for God. I am ready to endure any hardship, if by any means I might save some. The longing of my heart is to make known my glorious Redeemer to those who have never heard.” – William Burns

I love this quote. It speaks just what my heart feels. For it is my only desire, the longing of my heart to win souls. I breathe it, I think it, I live it. There is not a moment in my day that I have a ‘shut-off’ mode and I’m not thinking of a way that I might save the Ecuadorians, or gain them to the Lord. It is from the moment I awake, until I lay my head to rest at night, and I often even dream of it, preaching to them, praying with them.

Only God could have given me a passion like this, a love this strong for a people I had never known before, and yet fell in love with from the moment He said, “Go to Ecuador”. Their language different, their cultures so very different, their ideas different, their whole way of life completely different, and yet I have taken all of it on as my very own. All of this because of a love, because of a burden, because of an overwhelming desire to see them know Jesus Christ.

Many have asked me what I like to do in my ‘free’ time. My answer is and always will be the same, “I am doing what I LOVE to do and I get to do it, ALL the time!” I am truly fulfilling my one desire!!
