Runa

Everyone, meet Runa. I love this picture of him so much! (Not just because I took it). But it moves me every time I look at it. This is from several years ago, on a work day at Puyupungo church. And he had come to watch us work, as often the children do. I captured him when he sat down at the church door, and oh, the volumes that his eyes speak. The sadness. The longing for love. The hunger in his body. The pain. The loneliness. All of this in the innocence of a sweet child. I could see everything that he wasn’t saying.

But, there he sat, at a young age that still couldn’t understand, and thinking life is the same for everyone, everywhere. Oh, but what he didn’t know or realize yet, is that hope had been sent to him. Love had arrived at his doorstep. A piece of bread, and a bowl of rice would fill his hungry belly. A chance to know Jesus and the joy and peace that He brings had come to his community. He would now experience all of it. You see, the Good News of the Gospel changes everything and it had now arrived to Runa and his family and his community. This was just the beginning for this sweet boy. ❤️
