What an exciting time we have had this past week! My dear friends of many years, Pastor and Sis. Logan, of Upper Room Church in Wilton, AL, and 4 of their church members, have all been here in Ecuador with me! This church has been a faithful supporter of Ecuador Missions for over 10 years now and this was their second visit to see the work.
Pastor and Sis. Logan are especially dear to my heart, for they were some of the first with whom I shared that God had placed the call upon my life to go to Ecuador. After my parents, I only told a few others, and because the Logan’s are passionate about soul winning, and have traveled the world telling others about Jesus, I knew that they’d share in my joy. And I’ll never forget what Pastor Logan said. His words still ring in my ears to this day. He said, “Pack your bags, sis.” They not only believed in me and knew that the call was real, but they then invited me to go on my very first missions trip ever in 1996. I was so excited! Flying to the other side of the world to tell people about Jesus, I wept all the way there as we flew to England and Wales. Then they invited me to go to Mexico, then back to England, again. The call of God upon my life was confirmed over and again on those trips, as He ministered to my heart on each one. I knew then that I couldn’t wait to get to Ecuador someday!
We sure had the best time together this past week, as they came just for the souls, not for vacation, but to labor and bless the people of God. We bought and delivered rice together, visited families, prayed over homes, had church services every day in all of the churches, where they preached and sang, and played instruments and they just loved on the Ecuadorian people. And wow! We had awesome moves of God every day, everywhere we went!
I’ll always be grateful to them for opening their doors to a young woman who had been called to missions, and I hope it makes them proud to see what God has done here in the Amazon from that call.
